Tikka T3x Superlite — Ultra-Light Bolt-Action Rifles for Mountain Hunting
We designed the T3x Superlite for hunters who measure every ounce. At under 6 pounds, this Finnish-built bolt-action rifle delivers full-power accuracy without the weight penalty of traditional hunting rifles.
The fluted barrel and lightweight synthetic stock reduce carry fatigue on multi-day backcountry hunts, while our cold-hammer-forged barrel and stainless steel action maintain the precision Tikka is known for. Available in popular calibers including 30-06 Springfield, .308 Winchester, 6.5 Creedmoor, and .270 Winchester, the Superlite adapts to your hunting style.
Our single-stage trigger breaks cleanly at 2-4 pounds with zero creep. The detachable magazine holds three rounds, and the receiver is drilled and tapped for standard Tikka scope mounts. Every Superlite ships with our one-MOA accuracy guarantee.

Fluted Barrel Construction & Cold-Hammer Forging

Our fluted barrel design removes material where it doesn’t contribute to accuracy while maintaining rigidity where it matters. Six longitudinal flutes reduce barrel weight by approximately 4 ounces compared to a standard contour, and the increased surface area aids heat dissipation during extended shooting sessions.
Every Superlite barrel begins as a solid bar of premium stainless steel. We cold-hammer-forge each barrel around a carbide mandrel, a process that work-hardens the steel and creates a bore of exceptional smoothness. This manufacturing method produces barrels that resist corrosion, maintain accuracy across thousands of rounds, and deliver consistent velocity shot after shot.
Synthetic Stock Design & Ergonomics

Weight Distribution & Balance
We engineered the Superlite stock with a vertical grip angle and moderate palm swell to encourage proper trigger finger placement. The textured grip surfaces provide control in wet conditions without the aggressive checkering that snags on gloves.
The stock weighs just 1.7 pounds and features strategically placed reinforcement ribs that prevent flex during recoil. Our two-point bedding system uses pillars in the action screw locations to maintain consistent barrel-to-stock spacing across temperature extremes and humidity changes.
Caliber Selection for Mountain Game

The Superlite ships in eight chamberings spanning varmint to dangerous game applications. For North American deer and elk, we see most hunters choose between 30-06 Springfield, .308 Winchester, and 6.5 Creedmoor.
The 30-06 remains our most popular choice for its versatility across bullet weights from 150 to 220 grains. It delivers adequate energy for elk at 400 yards while offering mild enough recoil for extended practice sessions. The .308 Winchester provides 90% of the 30-06’s performance in a shorter action with slightly reduced weight.

Common Questions About the T3x Superlite
The T3x Superlite weighs approximately 12-14 ounces less than our standard T3x Lite model, depending on caliber and barrel length. A Superlite in 30-06 with 22.4-inch barrel weighs 5.8 pounds, while the same configuration in T3x Lite weighs 6.6 pounds.
This weight reduction comes entirely from the fluted barrel design. The synthetic stocks are identical between models. For hunters counting ounces on multi-day backpack hunts, this difference equals carrying one less water bottle.
Yes, all Superlite barrels come threaded from the factory. We use 5/8×24 threading on most calibers and M15x1 on certain European-market models. The threads are protected by a removable cap.
We recommend keeping overall rifle length reasonable when adding suppressors, as the Superlite’s balance point shifts noticeably with a 7-8 inch can attached. Many hunters use compact suppressors or muzzle brakes specifically to maintain the rifle’s handling characteristics.
The Superlite in magnum chamberings like .300 Win Mag and 7mm Rem Mag produces sharp recoil due to the 5.9-pound weight. We designed the stock geometry to manage this, but the rifle is best suited for experienced shooters comfortable with magnum recoil.
For reference, a 5.9-pound rifle in .300 Win Mag produces approximately 30 ft-lbs of recoil energy compared to 20 ft-lbs in 30-06. We recommend trying before buying if you’re recoil-sensitive. Many hunters choose standard-weight T3x models for magnum calibers.
Every Tikka T3x rifle, including the Superlite, carries our sub-MOA accuracy guarantee. We guarantee three-shot groups measuring 1 inch or less at 100 yards when fired from a stable rest with quality factory ammunition.
In practice, most Superlite rifles group between 0.5 and 0.75 MOA with ammunition they prefer. Our cold-hammer-forged barrels maintain this accuracy across thousands of rounds. If your rifle fails to meet our guarantee, contact our warranty service for evaluation.
The T3x uses Tikka’s proprietary mounting system with 19mm dovetails machined into the receiver. Standard Weaver or Picatinny rings will not fit without an adapter rail.
We manufacture Optilock rings specifically for T3x rifles, and several aftermarket companies including Talley and Warne make direct-mount rings for our receiver pattern. These direct-mount options provide lower scope height and better rigidity than rail-mounted systems. Picatinny rail adapters are available if you prefer tactical-style mounts.
Our 30-06 Springfield and .308 Winchester Superlite barrels use a 1:11 twist rate. This stabilizes bullets from 150 to 200 grains, covering the full range of hunting applications from deer to elk.
The 1:11 twist is faster than traditional 1:12 rates found in older rifles, providing better stabilization for modern high-BC hunting bullets. For shooters wanting to use 220-grain bullets, our twist rate still provides adequate stability at typical hunting velocities below 2,400 fps.
Yes, the T3x trigger is user-adjustable from 2 to 4 pounds using a 3mm hex key. We provide adjustment instructions in the owner’s manual included with each rifle.
Turn the adjustment screw clockwise to increase pull weight, counterclockwise to decrease. Make small quarter-turn adjustments and test the trigger after each change. We recommend keeping pull weight above 2 pounds for hunting rifles to prevent accidental discharge. If you’re uncomfortable adjusting triggers, any competent gunsmith can perform this service in minutes.
